Unleashing Creativity and Sustainability: The Beeswax Crayon Workshop

Our Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit resort has pioneered an innovative approach to children’s entertainment and education. We are now inviting young ones to blend nature and creativity in a unique beeswax crayon workshop.

This activity is part of the broad spectrum of the resort’s child-friendly activities. It’s an inspiring, educational workshop that stirs children’s curiosity about bee conservation and instills a sense of belonging.

The importance of bees and their wax

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is a favored vacation spot for guests every year. But it also serves as a critical stopover for bees during their pollination journeys. Bees contribute significantly to crop production, biodiversity, healthy soil, clean air, and job creation for over 100,000 residents on Mexico’s Pacific coast.

This 30-minute workshop introduces our little guests to the crucial role bees play in our ecosystem. It also sheds light on the conservation efforts the resort has undertaken to ensure bee protection on the property. Participants learn how bees use wax to construct honeycombs that leave behind delicious honey for us to consume.

They also learn how the remaining wax can be repurposed into crayons and other useful products. During the lesson, kids will pick pigments to mix with the beeswax harvested from protected bees on the property. They can also choose from a variety of molds to personalize their natural crayons fully.

Creating memories and supporting environmental conservation

Paper is provided for testing out their creations. Once the crayons harden and set, the kids can take their crayons and drawings home. These serve as a reminder of what bees provide for us.

The beeswax crayon workshop continues the ongoing collaboration with AZPER Guardian of Life. This organization is committed to performing environmental conservation efforts aimed at enhancing a destination’s welfare. AZPER actively takes part in various initiatives to protect and preserve bees, promote sustainable practices, and raise awareness about environmental issues and the positive impact bees have on our planet.
