Do you know Bhramari Pranayama [Bee Breath] Meditation?
Also known as Humming Breath or Bee Breath, Bhramari Pranayama meditation heightens your internal focus while temporarily withdrawing your senses from the stimuli from the outside world and reconnecting with your inner balance and tranquility.
This 3-minute meditation led by Ana Paula Domínguez, founder of the Mexican Yoga Institute, is ideal to feel rooted to the Earth, and feel calmed as you reduce anxiety levels.
Just follow these easy steps:
- Sit comfortable in a chair or in the floor with your legs crossed.
- Cover your ears with your thumbs and your eyes with the rest of your hand.
- Inhale deeply and exhale with a humming “M” sound, touching your lips together.
- Repeat 10 times.
As you relax breathing normally and placing your hand over your knees, observe your inner state.
What you may find so extraordinary about Bee Breathing is that the skull becomes a resonance chamber in which the humming sound reverberates. This hypnotic buzz is absorbing; the longer your exhalations, the more compelling and soothing the sound will be, taking care not to strain. Your exhalations may deepen slowly. Let it flow.
Eventually, move into practicing Bee Breath for as long as it is comfortable for you, up to 5 minutes. Ana Paula recommends repeating along the day if you wish to, up to 10 times.
Namaste.
