Mexology Fest: The second edition of the festival dedicated to mixology
From October 31st to November 2nd, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit will host the second edition of Mexology Fest, an event full of creativity and spirit. This festival is perfect for cocktail enthusiasts and beginners, celebrating Mexican spirits’ richness by combining traditional techniques with innovative methods.
History in Every Sip
Attendees can dive into interactive workshops, participate in exclusive tastings, and enjoy unforgettable evenings led by renowned mixologists from Mexico and the United States.
Among the most exciting experiences are Agave Skin, a sensory ritual guided by SE Spa therapists, and an exclusive takeover at Koi Bar, hosted by Thunderbolt, one of the 50 Best Bars in North America. The perfect combination of relaxation and innovative flavors!
Meet the Experts
Master artisans and mixology experts will reveal the secrets behind spirits like tequila, raicilla, and more, reinterpreted through the iconic symbol of La Catrina, which embodies the cycle of life and death in honor of the Day of the Dead:
- Saeed “Hawk” House: A bartender with 11 years of experience, Saeed has been featured in Food & Wine as one of the “20 Black Mixologists You Need On Your Radar.” His passion extends to both mixology and photography.
- Michael Capoferri: With 23 years in hospitality, Capoferri founded Thunderbolt, ranked the #8 bar in North America, and “Best of the West” 2022-2024 (according to World’s 50 Best Bars). After a career in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York, he created a bar driven by technique, offering efficient and sustainable cocktails.
- Christine Wayne: Founder of On The Mocks™, she created a community for non-alcoholic drink enthusiasts. Since 2019, Christine’s project has promoted an alcohol-free lifestyle, showing how to enjoy beverages without losing the fun.
- Lucas Assis: With over ten years as a bartender, Lucas is passionate about spirits, particularly tequila. His workshop “Soul and Flavors” will explore the differences between Mexican spirits, culminating in a blind-tasting competition.
- Sergio Villareal: Creator of Licuraduría, he develops sensory concepts for events and drinks menus. In collaboration with Clase Azul, his workshop will take participants to the heart of Mexican spirits.
Additionally, international brands such as Tequila Tromba, Aycya Raicilla, Lyre’s, and Ritual Zero Proof will collaborate to create a unique event celebrating iconic Mexican spirits.
Legacy and Innovation in Gastronomy
Mexology Fest will kick off with a luxurious culinary collaboration. On the first day, Bruno Oteiza, Chef Consultant at the Michelin-starred restaurant Cocina de Autor at sister property Grand Velas Riviera Maya, will join forces with the resort’s Executive Chef Guillaume Morancé to create a dinner that blends tradition and creativity in every dish. A true feast for the senses!
